May 18, 1973 - Four Hour Siege At House: A man armed with a gun and suffering from a broken leg, held police at bay for four hours in a siege at a house in Oldham, Lancs, yesterday. The man was forced out of the house with CS gas. He opened the front door holding a pistol. He right leg was in plaster and he was on crutches. When the police called on him to drop he retreated inside and slammed the door. Three more CS gas cannisters were fired into the house. Police then entered and found the man semi-conscious on the floor. He was taken by ambulance to hospital. Photo shows the man about to be carried to the ambulance on a stretcher, at the end of the siege yesterday
