Feb. 02, 1976 - Shirley Williams launches The price check scheme': Mrs. Shirley Williams, Secratary of State of Prices and Consumer Protection, today launched Price Check, the selected price restraint scheme which begins in the shops next Monday. It is a cooperative venture between the Government, manufacturing and service industries and retail trade, and of the TUC, There will be a national publicity campaign to make shoppers familiar with the scheme. Price Check goods and services included with the scheme. Price Check goods and services included in the selective price restraint scheme will feature the Price Symbol.
