May 05, 1972 - Swabey Is Claimed After 16 Years: The Courts Martial Appeals Court today upheld an appeal against conviction by a Naval officer-after 16 years. Lord Widgery, the Lord Chief Justice, gave judgment in the appeal by Mr Christopher Carlisle Swabey, against his conviction 16 years ago by a Natal court martial of Indecent assault. Mr. Swabey, of Ovington Court, Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London, was dismissed the service after his conviction in Malta in April 1956 when he was a Lt. Commander. He was alleged to have stroked the thigh of a 22 year old Sub-Lieutenant during a taxi journey back to H.M.S. Redoubt-a tank landing craft of which Mr Swabey was commanding officer designate.
