May 05, 1978 - Sacked Trainee Chef Richard Elvidge At Industrial Tribunal: Claridge's The Hotel Which Sacked 19-Year-Old Trainee Chef Richard Elvidge, Partly For Failing To Get His Rataouilie Right, Yesterday Gave Details Of The Secret Recipe For The Dish. According To The Management, Mr. Elvidge's Dismissal, Which Provoked A Two-Week Strike By 112 Staff At Claridge's Last Month, Was For Failing To Cut Herrings To Size And Refusal To Put Seasoning Into Ratatouille. This Said The Management For His Sacking And Not As Mr. Elvidge Was Saying That He Was Dismissed For His Activities On Behalf Of The General And Municipal Workers Union. Photo shows Sir.
