Aug. 08, 1977 - VIOLENCE FLARES AT THE NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL: Mobs of rioting youths clashed with police during the Notting Hill Carnival last night, as police moved in they were met with a hail of beer can and bottles, bricks - chair legs. By midnight the number of injured had reached 220, of which 90 were taken to hospital some with stab wounds.
