Jul. 07, 1979 - Sir Keith Joseph to cut aid to Industry: The Industry Secretary, Sir Keith Joseph, yesterday told the House of Commons that the Government intended to reduce aid to regional industry by £233 million over the next three years. The announcement means a reduction of almost a third in the expenditure of £609 million which the Labour Government had planned for regional development grants, selective assistance and factory building.
