1982 - The Security Council, meeting tonight at the United Kingdom's request, concerning the situation in the Falkalnd (Malvinas) Islands, heard a statement by council president Kamanda wa Kamanda (Zaire) calling on Argentina and the UK to exercise the utmost restraint at this time and in particular to refrain from the use of threat of force in the region and to continue the search for a diplomatic solution'. Statements were made by the representatives of the United Kingdom and Argentina. The United Kingdom's UN Ambassador Sir Anthony Parsons speaking at the meeting
