May 05, 1980 - Portan Battle run The defense Nuclear, Biological and chemical center at Winterbourne gunner, near Salisbury, has developed a defensive chemical warfare training facility in association with the chemical defense Establishment, Portan; and is known as the Porton Battle run'. It provides for units to undertake an exercise lasting 38 during which a number of simulated chemical warfare attacks are made without Warning, and this is the first major chemical war exercise organized by a NATO power.
