Jun. 06, 1959 - Top Spaceman: Sir Edward Bullard has been appointed Chairman of the Steering Group on Space Research, the organization to supervise the British Government's space research programme. A Cambridge University graduate, Noe a 52-year-old scientist and father of four daughters, Sir Edward spent the early part of his career at Cambridge, becoming (1931-35) Demonstrator of Geodesy.from 1939 to 1945 he was with the British Navy, becoming assistant Director of Operational Research. 1945-48 saw him back at Cambridge as Reader in Experimental Geophysics. 1948-49 he was in Canada as Professor of Physics at Toronto University. 1950-55 he was back in England as Director or the National Physical Laboratory. In 1956 he became a Fellow of his university's caius College. He is also a Fellow of Britain's distinguished Royal Society. Picture Shows Sir Edward Bullard
