Jul. 02, 1959 - Putney's bomb is exploded: Bomb-disposal men worked through the night to steam away some of the explosive before exploding the 500lb. bomb which was dicovered by council workmen repairing Bendemeer-road, Putney yesterday. The bomb ws booby-trapped and very dangerous, and had been dropped in a 1940 air raid. Families in the road had been evacuated, and when the bomb was exploded at the town today, windows were shattered and holed blown in roofs of houses.
