Feb. 02, 1956 - Kathleen Wins Her Freedom. First Time In Her Life: Lord Goddard the Lord Chief Justice yesterday ruled that 24 year old Kathleen Rutty would b given her freedom. Kathleen had been in the care of public authorities since she was taken from her mother's care when she was three months old. First in a poor Law Institution - then a council home and for the past seven years - a mental home. Five months ago Kathleen was allowed out on Parole on condition that she lived with her brother -that she did not speak to any other young man or leave the house unchaperoned. Now for the first time in her life Kathleen is free to do as she wishes.
