Unusual vehicle for BBC outside broadcasts

Jun. 06, 1953 - It's Over Their Heads: For outside broadcasts where announcers have to get a clear view over the heads of the crowd, the British Broadcasting Corporation has come up with his strange looking vehicle embodying a glass-sided, almost soundproof turret at top. Smooth running and comparatively silent, this Austin eight-seater will be used, among other things, for reporting the British Lincoln Handicap, where the road runs alongside the race track and the cancan be driven along at the horses pace. Picture Shows The Austin eight seater utility vehicle. In the turret is Mr. Raymond Glendenning, popular BBC Sports announcer
