USAF airman shooting incident, Broadstairs, Kent

Aug. 08, 1955 - Black American Airman Shoots Himself On Kent Beach After Killing Three And Injuring Six With Sten Gun: American airman Napoleon Green truned his gun on himself on Broadstairs, Kent Beach this afternoon. He had run amok with a Sten gun at nearby Manston USAF base and shot nine people - three of them died. The beach shooting followed a mile long chase by armed British police and American airmen along sands packed with holidaymakers. Police loudspeakers called on the holidaymakers to leave the beach.
