1971 - Igor Stravinsky buried. The famous composer Igor Stravinsky, 88, was buried last Thursday in the cemetery on the island of San Michele, in the Venice lagoon. Stravinsky, who died in New York, was reported to have had a great affection for Venice. Before the burial there was a funeral service in the church of St John and St Paul in Venice itself.
