The film was, for instance, also chosen by the Museum of Modern Art, New York, as one of the best of the last ten years. The famous Swedish film director and actor, Sjostrom - himself a chapter of film history - shows in this film a man who, at the end of his life, looks back and suddenly realises what it is that makes life worth living
