Video display terminal, an early form of word processor

Feb. 26 Innovation In The Newsroom - An increasingly frequent sight in newsrooms - and one that shows signs of talking over - is the video display terminal (VDT). Essentially a computerised television screen with a keyboard, it enables journalists to see a story as they write it. The writer can erase a word or an entire sentence, transpose or insert a paragraph at the push of a button. The VDT also stores the story in a retrieval system and sends it via computer to a typesetting machine
