Sep. 09, 1969 - Vietnam VC For Another Australian. The Queen has awarded the Victoria Cross to Warrant Officer Keith Payne of the Australian Army training team in Vietnam. Warrant Officer Payne, who is 36, and is married with five children, was cited for outstanding devotion to duty and leadership under most hazardous conditions during an operation with a battalion of a Special Forces unit near the Cambodian-Laotian-Vietnam borders in Kontum province in May this year.
