VIETNAM WAR - 1955 - 1975

July 2, 1964 - Vietnam - In order to reach a point in their search for guerillas, Government troops requistion a local farmer and his canoe. Guerillas refuse to fight according to the rules, preferring hit-and-run, and shooting down US helicopters with ground fire from the jungle. In the 1950's, the US began to send troops to Vietnam, during the following 25-years, the ensuing war would create some of the strongest tensions in US history
