1962 - Vietnam Garrison Relived After Frantic Battle What can be described as a small Dien Nien Phu, was fought recently in the Tra Bong Area, when 600 Viet Congs attacked an outpost at An Hoa, 330 miles north-east of Saigon in a 4 hour frantic battle in which 38 Viet Congs were killed, The Government forces lost 6 dead and 18 wounded. At one stage of the battle government artillerymen fired 110 shells from their 155 mm howitzers point blank at the Viet Cong. Finally reinforcements managed to relieve the resigned garrison and rout the reds.
