1962 - Vietnam Garrison relieved after Frantic Battles with Viet Cong.: What can be described as a small Dien Bein Phu, was fought recently in the Tra Bong area, when 600 Viet Congs attacked an outpost at An Hoa, 30 miles north-east of Saigon in a 4 hour frantic battle in which 38 Viet Congs were killed. the Government forces lost 6 dead and 18 wounded. At one stage of the battle, government forces fired 110 shells from the 155mm howitzers point black at the Viet Congs.
