May 18, 1963 - Human to-tos learn the ropes.: In view of the trouble in South Vietnam, the United States have set-up a jungle training School in the hills of Okinawa so that they will be fully acquainted with the techniques of jungle warfare so that they can hold their own against the Communist guerillas in Leoa. The United States have some 12, 000 men in South Vietnam and have suffered some casualties in addition the Vietnamese admit to having 4, 000 killed and 6, 000 wounded in the past year but it is claimed that 30, 000 Communists have been killed. Photo shows this exercise is known as a confidence builder. The soldier lets go of the pulley attached to the overhead rope and plunges into the water below
