Mar. 03, 1971 - Hanoi Troops overun base.: Communist troops led by tanks overran a South Vietnamese paratroop base in Laos, overwhelming the 200 defenders of hill 1. The hill was overrun after three hours of heavy fighting on the third day under intense guerrilla pressure. The base, 15 miles inside Laos, was bombared by guerrilla tanks which United States helicopter pilots said has surrounded the place'.
