Walter Midgley, operatic tenor, in Rigoletto, Covent Garden

Jan. 01, 1953 - The Tenor Took A Deep Breath And Swallowed Half His Moustache: The man with half a moustache is opera singer Walter Midgley. He swallowed the other half - it was false - while singing as the dashing Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto at Covent Garden. Doctors removed the remains of it yesterday. The rest Walter coughed up when he turned his back on the New Year's Eve audience
