Aug. 08, 1954 - LONDON DELUGED BY FREAK STORM: A violent thunderstorm which swept down the Thames valley last night plunged London into darkness. Torrential rain drenched thousands of people, roads were flooded, and many buildings were struck by lightning. For 20 minutes the storm lashed the capitol. The it ceased as suddenly as it had begun.
