Wernher Von Braun, German rocket scientist

Sep. 09, 1959 - Wernher von Braun - a traitor?: It caused a quarrel between the British film director Lee Thompson (R) and the rocket expert Wernher von Braun who did not agree with some scenes of the scenario by which the story of Wernher von Braun is to be filmed. In Wernher von Braun's opinion, these scenes show him as a traitor who, after the war, offered himself to the Americans in order to save his life. Because of his working at the development of the V-bombs, which destroyed a large part of London during the Second World War, he still is not much liked in England, but, after all, Wernher von Braun did nothing but accept a good offer given to him by the Americans. After a few hours of discussions, some scenes were altered. The shooting for the film The Wernher von Braun Story can begin on October 12th in Munich, and Curt Jurgens will play the part of the famous rocket specialist.
