Jul. 07, 1962 - Richard Wagner Festival from July 24th to Aug.27th, 1962: On July 24th, this year's Richard Wagner Festival at Bayreuth will open with the new staging of Tristan and Isolde directed by Wieland Wagner, a grandson of the composer Richard Wagner. With 30 fixed performances, this will be the so far longest Wagner Bayreuth Festival.
