Winalot dog Robert with Dr Who robot dog K9
Oct. 10, 1977 - Crunch: TV Dogs Robert and K9 celebrate in style. Spillers Winalot celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, yesterday (Friday) to the sound of champagne corks popping and two super dogs munching Britain's biggest selling canine biscuit. The bubbly flowed as Spillers management announced a special promotional plan for Winalot's Golden Jubilee at a news conference on a period barge moored in London's St. Katherine's Dock. The plan includes a consumer competition with four golden Ford Fiesta cars among the prizes, and the launch of TV advertising next week. Two new commercials are to be shown nationwide one of them features Robert, a golden retriever rescued from death as a puppy, who also appears on the new-look Winalot Pack now on every supermarket shelf. And as pictured here, Robert showed how much he loves Winalot on the dock quayside, with K9, the Robot dog from BBC's Dr Who, tasting a mouthful or two, in between
