Winifred Ewing, SNP MP for Moray and Nairn, Scotland

May 05, 1976 - Mrs. Winifred Ewing the Trendy MP. Mrs. Winifred Ewing, Scottish Nationalist MP for Moray and Nairn, in a cream cheescloth dress under a coat of orange goatskin, which caused something of a stir in the House of Commons yesterday. The Speaker, Mr Thomas in his reply to Mr Dalyell (Labour, West Lothian) when asked if it was normal to address the House in a dressing gown and nightie said It is not, but the unexpected always happens'. Mrs Ewing took it as a compliment and sad I've always liked rather flamboyant clothes and I don't see why the Commons should change me'. Photo shows Mrs. Winifred Ewing outside the House of Commons in a cream cheesecloth dress under a coat of orange goatskin, yesterday
