Winston Churchill as Lieutenant, 4th Queen's Own Hussars

Feb. 26 Preparing for celebration of Sir Winston Churchill's 80th birthday. Scenes from the life of the famous statesman: Preparations are going ahead for the many ceremonies which will mark the 80th birthay of Sir Winston Churchill the world's leading Statesman. It is hoped that some of the ceremonies will be televised including that in Westminster Hall in which Sir Winston will be greeted by Peers, M.P.s of all parties after the State opening of the Lord's Chamber. Sir Winston will receive many gifts including a portrait of himself in oils by Graham Sutherlan this will be presented by the Leader of the Opposition Mr.Clement Attlee. He will also receive a commemorative book from all members of the House of Commons. Police anticipate having to deal with large crowds of sightseers as the birthday coincides with the Queen's State Drive to Westminster. Photo shows Winston Churchill as a Lieutenant in the 4th.
