Winston Churchill in mosaic floor, Defiance by Boris Anrep
Nov. 11, 1952 - New Mosaic Floor National Gallery: A new mosaic floor for the National Gallery, London, is being completed by artist Boris Anrep, with Italian workmen. Fifty different colours of marble have been used on a floor 80 yards Square - the fourth top be made for the gallery by Mr. Anrep. It has a huge border of autumn leaves surrounding 15 names personify 15 abstreet virtues. Mr. Anrep has been working on his new floor for two years in his Paris home.
