Feb. 02, 1974 - A New Version Of The Game Of Chess On A Hexagonal Board: Mr. Wladyslav Glinski, a Polish-born Briton, has created a new version of the game of chess which is played on a hexagonal board. Mr. Glinski, 52, who is an accomplished orthodox chess player, has spent 30 years perfecting the new game, which he claims is definitely not just for the super-brains. He says the new game is much more interesting to play - for the social players it's ideal because the arrangement of the pieces at the beginning means it's already an open game, so, they don't have to study their openings. The game has four extra pieces, one pawn and one bishop to each side, and the hexagonal board has 41 hexagons in three shades. Mr Glinski has tested the new version with players both in this country and abroad, and in October will have a book published on his method. Photo shows.
