Wolfgang Sawallisch, German conductor and pianist

Aug. 08, 1978 - 55th birthday of Wolfgang Sawallisch : on August 26th 1978 Wolfgang Sawallisch the well known German conductor celebrates his 55th birthday. After he made his matriculation at the Wittelsbacher Gymnasium in his home town Munich, Western Germany he received a private education in music his examination paper he made after his return from the war-captivity also in Munich in autumn of the year 1945. From 1947 to 1953 Sawallisch worked at the municipal stage Augsburg, after this 5 years he was general-music-director of Aachen, from the year 1958 to 1960 at the state theater of Wiesbaden and from 1960 to 1964 at the municipal stages of Cologne, then leader of the masterclass at the high school of cologne. From 1960 to 1970 he was chief- conductor of the Wiener Symphoniker (Vienna Symphonics), beneath from 1961 to 1973 general -music- director of Hamburg and chief-conductor of the Philharmonic State Opera of Hamburg. Since 1971 Sawallisch is Bavarian general music director and musical leader of the Bavarian state opera Munich. 1957 -1962 festival of Bayreuth since 1957 permanently guest conductor of the Nhk-Symphonic orchestra Tokyo. Since 1973 leader of ant at the orchestra De in Swiss Romande Geneva.
