Woman with dressing case dating from 1644
Aug. 08, 1957 - Beauty Culture in 1644: Queen Elizabeth will visit the Jamestown Festival, Virginia, when she comes to the United States in the fall. A highlight of the Festival is the Old World Pavilion in which the British Government has installed a 40, 000 exhibit in an area of 6, 500 square feet. It tells the story of Jamestown's beginnings 350 years ago and the history of British colonization since. Photo shows Miss Penny Butts, an Old World Pavilion visitor from Westfield, New Jersey, tries the contents of a dressing case dating from 1644. The comb she is using and the instruments on the table may be large by 1957 standards but among the latter are such items as a nail file, outicle cutters, tweezers, curling irons and scissors
