Women practise for pancake race, Olney, Bucks

Feb. 25, 1954 - Women prepare for pancake race: Women contestants in this year's Shrovetide Pancake race in the old market town of Olney, Bucks, are busy practising for the race, which takes place next Tuesday. this year, an old rule of this 500-year old event is to be revived. Competitors will have to toss their pancakes not once-but three times-at the start, at the finish and halfway while running.
