Working on Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation Bible

May 05, 1953 - The Queen's Coronation Bible Nears Completion. Hand Tooling The Cover In Gold Leaf: Work on the new Bible which is to be presented to the Queen at the Coronation ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury is being completed by craftsmen at Oxford University Press. Started in February last year, the Bible is now being bound in scarlet levant leather with a white leather panel on front - designed by Mr Lynton Lamb and worked on by Messrs Sangorski and Sutcliffe. The Bible runs into 1430 pages and was set up by one compositor only. Photo shows Mr Edgar Turner of Forest Hill at work hand-tooling the cover of the Bible in Gold Leaf
