Workman preventing pigeons from perching, Westminster
Aug. 26, 1965 - Effort to Rid Parliament of Pigeons.: As part of a plan to rid Parliament and Westminster of pigeons, workmen, armed with guns filled with plastic jelly, squirted jelly round the crowns of the statues of King and Queens, and the coronets of dukes and duchesses, on the colonnades in New Palace Yard, by order of the Ministry of Public Building and Works. The workmen used a 100-foot fire engine ladder for the task.
