World War II - Prelude to the Atomic Bomb
May 15, 1946 - Hiroshima, Japan - Japanese Kamikaze or suicide pilots who were used to attack Pearl Harbor thus pushing the US to use the Atomic Bomb. Nuclear weapons have been delivered only twice in the history of warfare, both in the ending days of World War II; the first bombing was on the morning of August 6th 1945, when the United States dropped a uranium gun-type device code-named Little Boy on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, and the last nuclear bombing occurred three days later; the second bomb was a plutonium implosion-type device code named Fat Man, dropped on the city of Nagasaki killing 120, 000 civilians and twice that over time died of nuclear diseases
