Mar. 03, 1966 - A famous Turkish writer detained on charge of communist propaganda.: The author of Memet the Hawk, Yasar Kemal, was detained at a police station last week, on charges of spreading communist propaganda and encouraging class struggle. During a gathering at the Grand Theatre in Ankara, Yasar Kemal, with famous Turkish folklore singer, Ruhi Su and writer Can Yuvel, were charged with communist propaganda and they were taken to the police station for interrogation. Authorities claim that during the performance at the theatre these men were trying to spread communist propaganda.
