Nov. 03, 1964 - Preparing for Opening of Parliament. Search of the Vaults.: Yeomen of the Guard lined ready for inspection their lamps at their feet before carrying out the traditional searching of the vaults of the Houses of Parliament - before the opening ceremony by H.M. The Queen. The searching ceremony stamp back to November 5th. 1605 when a search was discovered to blow up Parliament as it was being opened by King James I. A search of the vaults revealed not only kegs of gunpowder but also the most famous of all conspirators - Guy Fawkes
