Two young soldiers leave West Germany for Prague
Dec. 12, 1958 - West German soldiers said to be AWOL in Prague : Photos of two soldiers of the Bundeswehr, both 21, who are said to be in Prague. They are supposed to have crossed the border in order to ask for permission to stay in the Czech Republic. The reason for their move to the east until now has not been published by the Federal defence Ministry is - as says - the presence of American occupation forces in Germany and the creation of a new German army headed by Hitler generals. Photo shows the soldiers Manfred Kleber (L) who is said to be with an artillery unit at Welden and (R) Dietrich Bitzer from a unit stationed near Landshut
