Young's Brewery, 21st birthday of Steve, the dray horse

Feb. 02, 1966 - A 21st Birthday Party For Steve - The Oldest Dray horse At Young's Brewery: Steve, the oldest Shire horse at Young's Brewery, Wandsworth, celebrated his 21st birthday with a party at the Brewery stables today. The normal working life for a Shire horse is about 7 years, but Steve has been with Young's for 14 years and still goes out daily delivering beer to nearby pubs. One of Steve's 21st birthday presents was a box of 21 carrots. Photo Shows: As part of his 21st birthday a ceremonial drive pulling a dray laden with musicians The Duke Of Cambridge Taverners, who played Happy Birthday and Steptoe and Son theme music
