Youth orchestra play on Ben Nevis, Scotland

Aug. 08, 1962 - An orchestra plays up a mountain: Twenty-eight young musicians, average age 14, played the National Anthems of Britain, America and Russia 4400 feet up Ben Nevis. This was no teenage rave or gimmick. It was a tribute to men who died in a war that ended before most of them were born. The musicians belong to the Dudley, Worcestershire Youth Orchestra. There is a 25-year-old link between their home town and Fort William. Photo shows Amidst magnificent scenery and atrocious rain a member carries a cello over the Red Burn on his way to the Summit
