Blitz in London -- the remains of a warehouse in Surrey Commercial Docks, Rotherhithe, SE London. Surrey Docks was extensively bombed on 7 September 1940, and on subsequent nights. Its vast stocks of timber cargoes, warehousing and shipping were set ablaze and rapidly developed into conflagrations. On 7 September 1000 pumps were used to surround and fight the blazing dock complex
