GLC-LFB Brigade Headquarters Control Unit (CU)
The mid 1970s saw a number of innovative appliance designs come into play as the London Fire Brigade adapted to an ever changing and more Health and Safety conscious working environment. This single decker bus was redesigned and converted into a major incident control unit by the London Fire Brigade workshops. Its enhanced communications and conference facilities provided for improved command and control capability at large fires and other major incidents. Located at the Brigade headquarters, Lambeth, it was staffed by operational officers from the LFB operations room who both monitored and attended major incidents.
