LCC-LFB fire engine trials at Crystal Palace
The Merryweather Hatfield pump was first developed by Merryweather of Greenwich in the late 1890s. By 1916 the decision was taken to move totally to motorised fire engines and dispense with steam fire engine production. Showing tests being conducted at Crystal Palace ponds by London County Council engineers and Fire Brigade officers to determine the pumping capacity of the Hatfield pump
