LCC-LFB Merryweather Hatfield fire engine
An LFB firefighting crew on a motorised steam pump. The motorised age came to the London Fire Brigade at Southwark in September 1909. This petrol powered Merryweather Hatfield chain-driven pump could deliver 500 gallons of water at the fire and travel at 30mph. Note the ubiquitous hose cart in the background (left)
