LCC-LFB Motorised Fire King fire engine
The Fire King was manufactured by Merryweather of Greenwich. The London Fire Brigade purchased the Fire King, one of the first going to Whitefriars fire station. Unfortunately the Fire Kings were slow (12 mph maximum) compared to horses, and cumbersome to steer. Stopping was also a problem as they weighed some 5.5 tons. They were not widely introduced
