Opened in 1881, Shadwell fire station was located at 9 Glamis Road, Wapping. Seen here are the firemen posing with their two horse drawn escape carts, the horse drawn steamer and the hose cart that was pulled along by two firemen whilst young children of the neighbourhood get in on the act
