Even though WW2 was over, the NFS continued until 1948. The London Region covered the Greater London including Mitcham, Surrey, where this major fire broke out at a used rubber tyre dump at Carshalton Road on 2 June 1947. A London Fire Brigade pump-escape is set in and supplying water to fight the blaze
