A hose laying lorry trialling the 7 inch hose line and discharging the hose from the rear of the lorry. In peacetime 3.5 inch hose was used on the hose lorries, but the Blitz had demonstrated the need to have much larger hose to provide greater volumes of water from a supply point to feed the pumps
